Andrzej Lepper[pl]
Andrzej Lepper is dead

The mainstream media have announced that the leader of the Self-Defense Party, Andrzej Lepper, is dead. According to the published information the likely cause of the death was suicide. This fact arouses our suspicion, surprise and deep concern.

Although we had been distanced from Andrzej Lepper and Self-Defence Party and we had often criticized this political formation, we had shared similar views on many facts. It concerns especially the assessment of systemic transformation as unjust and injurious to the majority of the society. Andrzej Lepper was the man of the opposition, even over the short period of time when he was a member of the government.

He was totally blistered by politicians and the mainstream media. “Demagogue, boor, dodger, churl” - these are only a few names he was called. Lepper indeed did not fit in the high society. He usually didn't mince words. And on the top of it his plebeianism... This could not tickle “elites” fancy.  But above all, they did not like what Lepper was saying and that by doing it he won the popularity among certain parts of the society. Lets face it – there has always been enough room in the Parliament for real boors and louts.

Lepper was jeered at and tauted when he was speaking about Talibans in Klewki. Now it has been revealed that he was simply telling the truth.

Lepper was not afraid of going to Iraq and China. As one of the few he opposed the extremely hypocritical bashing against Belarus. He openly ignored the hypocritical standards of political correctness which instruct to label those countries as “totalitarian regimes” and impose their boycott. In this case, he did not accepted, in contrary to almost everyone, double ethical standards.

It is not a secret that there were going-ons around Lepper and it had been happening for long.

Although Law and Justice Party went into a coalition with Self Defence (that was probably  biggest mistake of the latter), it had planned since the very beggining a public disgrace of Andrzej Lepper and his elimination from politics. Special state services were employed in order to prepare the provocation against him. But they had failed to make Lepper a thief.

Shortly after the infamous sex-scandal around Lepper broke out. If it was a mistification, one can believe or not. Courts have been unable to clarify the matter and now the litigation against him will probably be canceled. It is necessary to admit that the witch-hunt against Lepper was unrefined and it was carried out not only against his opinions or political goals but also against him personally. In case of the defeat, his private, family and social life would be destroyed. Not to beat around the bush, it was about destroying him entirely. To win them completely is impossible, which is characteristic for this type of matters. Even through one can be fully innocent and it can be confirmed by numerous judical verdicts, the infamy remains.

Is it possible to break down and commit a suicide under this sort of pressure? It is. But nothing indicated that Lepper would break down. This man was determined to fight for his political position and his reputation. From his public declaration we can conclude that he had many plans, short and long term. He looked like a tough man and he was battle-harneded in a political struggle. He could also rely on his Party and family.

The last entry on his political blog, from the 19th July reminded about Barbara Blida's case in which he demanded establishing who was responsible for it.

Political elites endlessly tell us to praise the political “freedom” which supposedly reigns in III RP/IV RP, in contrast to “totalitarian” Peoples Republic of Poland, where people were allegedly imprisoned for their opinions and political activtity. The latter is, of course, not true. Even if it is assumed that it was the case, it is necessary to admit that the freedom of expression in III RP/IV RP exists only if it is possible to break through the barrier of information noise. These who dared to break through that barrier have their spines broken by the III/IV RP, possibly not only moral or political ones.
